Valentine’s Day Ideas for Her & Him

Posted by admin on February 11, 2013

This Valentine’s Day Leti and I will celebrate our 17th wedding anniversary.  When you’ve been married as long as we have been, it can be kind of tough to come up with new and original Valentine’s Day presents.  We have a few suggestions you might want to consider this year.

Here are four ideas for the ladies:

Jack Daniels Honey – $23.99JD Honey

Women are typically not whiskey drinkers. For a whiskey loving man this can be a bit disappointing. Jack Daniels Honey is one of the fastest growing whiskey brands in the marketplace, especially amongst women. Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey has the same body and mouthfeel as classic Jack Daniel’s. Its flavor profile tastes like classic Jack mixed with the best local Tennessee honey and its perfect on its own or mixed with things like lemonade, ginger ale or cola. This Valentine’s Day why don’t you introduce your significant other to the wonderful world of whiskey?

Dorda-Double-Chocolate-Liqueur1Dorda Double Chocolate Liqueur – $24.99

Incredibly rich chocolate liqueur made with top shelf Chopin Vodka. Think of thick adult chocolate milk like you have never had before.

vixenVixen Vodka – $22.99

Vixen Vodka was launched in October 2012. It is the brainchild of three friends we had met at Crossfit in North Atlanta. It can be found in many of Atlanta’s finest restaurants. Vixen Vodka is a vodka specially crafted for women by women. It is five times distilled, organic, and gluten free. It is incredibly smooth and clean tasting. Simply put it is “Lust in Liquid Form.”

MoscatoBeviamo Moscato d’Asti – $15.99

Beviamo Moscato d’Asti is fresh, fragrant, and frizzante with vibrant, flavors and aromas of ripe stone fruit, tangerines, and honey. The wine is concentrated and flavorful, but not overly rich or heavy; sweet, yet balanced. This is the most popular Moscato we have in the store and is a sure fire hit.

Here are some suggestions for the men:

woodforddoubleoakedWoodford Reserve Double Oaked Single Barrel Bourbon – $54.99

Woodford Reserve has released a new bourbon called Double Oaked in the last couple of months. The whiskey starts with standard Woodford, which is distilled in both copper pot and column stills before aging in heavily charred white oak barrels. Double Oaked starts off with standard Woodford Reserve before undergoing an inventive finishing process. Once the standard Woodford is dumped, it’s then placed in a second barrel for an additional 9 months of aging. These barrels have been toasted twice as long, and charred far more lightly, than the first barrels. The result is a different type of “seasoning” to the wood that is designed to provide a dramatic impact on the flavor of the finished whiskey.

RedemptionRyeRedemption Rye Whiskey $29.99

A 93 point rated niche rye whiskey. Once a popular spirit in the United States, Rye Whiskey was a key ingredient in numerous classic cocktails including The Manhattan, The Whiskey Sour, The Sazerac, and The Old Fashioned. This was changed by Prohibition, and by the time the law was repealed, Rye’s popularity had suffered greatly. Redemption Rye is determined to revive this feisty spirit and restore its rightful place in every bar. By law, a Whiskey must be 51% Rye to be classified as a Rye Whiskey. Redemption’s mash bill contains a whopping 95% Rye and has been aged in charred new oak barrels. After being properly aged, it is then bottled at a bold 92 proof, resulting in a smooth, flavorful spirit with prominent notes of spice blended with hints of citrus. Enjoy it neat or in a variety of classic cocktails.

hypothesisHypothesis Cabernet Sauvignon – $37.99

From the producers of Educated Guess, Hypothesis 2010 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is the FIRST wine of it’s kind. Rated 95 by Wine X Magazine, it is 100% produced from a brand new winemaking technique called FLASH DETENTE (translation – “instant relaxation”) that was created in Europe in the early 1990′s, yet was only recently introduced in the United States in 2009. Widely used in France by winemakers in Bordeaux and Rhone (Chateau Beaucastel being the most famous of them), Flash Detente is an all natural and organic pre-fermentation process that simply involves quickly heating and cooling the skins of the fruit before beginning fermentation. The results from this process are incredible color, flavor, and tannin extraction from the grapes as well as many other positive benefits.
